How Snowflake enforces its Data Cloud (Snowflake Summit 2022)

Snowflake recently unveiled enhancements to its Data Cloud at the Snowflake Summit 2022 in Las Vegas, among other events. There is a new Native Application Framework for the creation, monetization and deployment of applications. Also, there is more focus on native Python support [1].

The advantage of the Snowflake Data Cloud is that it is the central platform for all of the company’s data workflows. For example, the Snowflake provider creates a foundation that aggregates many workloads, secures and controls access to data, and can scale almost indefinitely. It is also a good way to avoid data silos [2].

And now Snowflake announces that it wants to expand this data platform and create an even better cross data analysis platform. With new feature regarding the Native Application Framework users can leverage functionality such as stored procedures, user-defined functions (UDFs) and user-defined table functions (UDTFs)[1].

Coupled with the statement that Python will be integrated more into Snowflake, e.g. with the integration of Anaconda…
