Python in the Cloud — Anaconda acquires PythonAnywhere

Good News for all Python Developers and Data Scientists

Anaconda has been offering an open source distribution of the Python and R programming languages and complementary development tools with a focus on Data Scientists for some time (some versions free of charge). Now Anaconda wants to push the work with Python in the browser and the cloud. In addition to the recently announced PyScript project, which embeds Python in HTML, Anaconda has now announced the acquisition of the PythonAnywhere web platform [1]. Read here more about it.

PythonAnywhere focuses on a complete development and collaboration environment in the cloud. Anaconda’s purchase of the platform is aimed at Python Developers and Data Analysts and, in particular, distributed teams who want to access a full IDE from any device via browser and also use services such as IPython and Jupyter Notebooks. In addition, the offering is intended to be suitable as a learning and teaching platform [1].
