Snowflake launched ML Powered Functions

Using new Analysis Tools via SQL powered by Machine Learning Algorithms

Snowflake has announced the preview of three new analysis tools via SQL and powered by Machine Learning algorithms[1].

Like other large well known Data Warehouses and Lakehouses, Snowflake now also offers the first ML functions via SQL in preview mode. Previously, it was of course possible to perform ML and Data Science tasks with services and tools, e.g. via Python and a Notebook or using e.g. the integration with Amazon SageMaker Autopilot which combines the Snowflake’s access to data with the automated Machine Learning (AutoML) capabilities of Amazon SageMaker Autopilot to effortlessly build and deploy ML models using SQL from inside Snowflake[2].

But other solutions such as Google’s BigQuery and AWS Redshift could do this via simple SQL, which is of course an advantage if you have SQL rather than Python knowledge in the company and do not want to use other tools unnecessarily. However, Snowflake is only just starting with this, so the…
